Conn Drifter (Used 1983-1999)
This guitar was originally owned by a friend of his first New York band, the Coachmen but found its way into the possession of Kim Gordon and was played by Thurston in Sonic Youth. The band reinvented the cheap 6-string by removing the frets, duck taping all knobs, taping in silver single coil pickups and eventually stringing it with bass stings which drum sticks would be wedged between. This guitar is best known for being used on "Eric's Trip" (1988), and was used in shows until July 4th, 1999 when the guitar was stolen in California.
